Volunteer With First Christian Church

Make Giving Back Your Ministry

Are you interested in joining the First Christian Church family in giving back to the community? We have many opportunities for you to get involved by donating and volunteering.

Here are current and upcoming volunteer/donation opportunities you can take part in to help make a difference:

Volunteers Needed for Project Outpour

(Volunteer Opportunity)

First Christian Church partners with Project Outpour, a mission providing mobile shower access to persons without adequate or convenient access to shower facilities. Providing a place for a shower, taken for granted by so many of us, supports an individual’s basic health and human dignity.

Project Outpour sets up its mobile shower unit in the FCC parking lot every Tuesday between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Volunteers can sign up to help set up, provide guests with toiletry items and towels, and keep showers clean and sanitary.

Most importantly, volunteers provide hospitality with a friendly face and listening ear to our guests, many of whom are homeless or otherwise have no access to showers and struggle with daily living. Project Outpour staff are always present and all supplies are furnished. All work is outside and requires standing and moving. Volunteers should dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. Restock the Little Free Pantry

Restocking and Donations Always Needed for Our Little Free Pantry

The Little Free Pantry is located adjacent to the church parking lot on East Boulevard. The Pantry is relied upon by many people as a regular source of food and nutrition. Place non-perishable food in the pantry anytime, 24/7 or drop off donations at the church office, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. weekdays. Always needed: peanut butter and jelly, canned meats, tuna, soup, pasta in pop-top cans or pouches, oranges, apples, individually packaged nuts, chips, cookies and crackers. No milk or milk products, including shelf-stable milk, puddings or liquid creamers. Bottled water is especially important during hot weather. All donations are greatly appreciated.

Dilworth Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry

(Volunteer Opportunity)

First Christian Church is the home of the Dilworth Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry. Established in 2008, the DSK is a separate, nonprofit organization designed to combat food insecurity in the community. The Soup Kitchen is entirely supported by private donations, corporate partners and volunteers. Over 200 free, take-out lunches are prepared every Monday and every Friday of the year, from 11:00 a.m. to noon. The Soup Kitchen also provides free groceries and non-perishable food to help sustain guests until their next meal. For many people, the Soup Kitchen is their primary source of food and nutrition.
